Dear Friend of Hollywood Arts,

   We have a home!

Hollywood Arts thanks Alan Sieroty, former California State Senator, arts advocate, philanthropist and real estate developer for his incredible support in helping us secure a 2,000 sq foot storefront in the heart of Hollywood, our service area.

Thanks to Sieroty's help, along with Evan Kasier, Hollywood Arts will be able to bring free classes in the arts from music to fashion to video games to homeless, runaway and foster care youth--teaching them not only basic job skills but also how to believe in themselves, the most important gift of all.

The next two months will be spent building out the center. Take the lead! Support the recording studio, help us buy projection screens for our editing bays, help homeless young people while they still have a chance to have a different life than the one they are living right now.

See photos of the center.

Inspired by the work of Hollywood Arts, Emily Kay, founder and director of Fancy Feet Dance Studios, organized a showcase of talented youth in the Palisades to benefit their peers at Hollywood Arts.

Friends of Kay's, actresses Robyn Cohen, Cheri Smith and Amanda Detmer agreed to get involved. Cohen helped organize the night, Detmer is hosting the showcase and Smith invited her friends from the original cast of RENT to perform for the evening.

The benefit takes place May 4th at Paul Revere Middle School.

Says Vai: "I am glad to have the opportunity to give back to a very worthy cause in a field I'm familiar with. I am excited to be a part of Hollywood Arts."

    Drawing Class

For the past few months, Hollywood Arts' students have been diligently working on learning the fundamentals of drawing in order to create their self-portraits.

Under the guidance of teachers Andy Clark from SpongeBob SquarePants and Stefanie Milner, licensed MFT and Art Therapist, students have learned the qualities of line, value and tone.

The William Morris Agency is turning their lobby into a gallery for our talented students! We thank William Morris for their generosity in hosting the exhibition for a month at the agency.
